Bilateral Agreements
Bilateral relations between Guatemala and Italy go back to an ancient tradition, and have generated a series of normative agreements:
- Agreement of 1889, renovated in 1936, consisting of an exchange of letters to regulate trade and navigation relations.
- Treaty of 1950 of peace, friendship, and cooperation.
- Exchange of letters in 1969 about the visa regime. Base Agreement of 1969, renovated in 1977, on technical cooperation.
- Exchange of letters in 1969 about the visa regime. Base Agreement of 1969, renovated in 1977, on technical cooperation.
- Protocol of 1988 on financial cooperation.
- Agreement of 1992 for the constitution of a fund resulting from the monetization of supplies intrinsic to the protocol of “supply of products and equipment for the small agricultural producer”.
- Agreement of 1994 regarding debt consolidation (Paris Club, 25 March 1993).
- Agreement of 2003 for cultural and scientific cooperation, ratified by the Parliaments of both countries (in force since 7 February 2007).
- Agreement of 2003 on the reciprocal promotion and protection of investments, signed in Guatemala City on 8 September 2003 (in force since 31 January 2008).
